Welcome to the website of Intelligent Transport-Energy Systems Lab (“iTES Lab”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a research lab based at the UCL Energy Institute. We are a research-based, non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing scientific understanding at the intersection of transport and energy from an intelligence-driven perspective.
1. Purpose and scope
The website provides information about iTES Lab research, projects, publications, people, and public interactive tools. It is intended for information, academic research, public engagement, and research collaboration. It does not constitute a commercial offer or professional advice.
2. Acceptance of terms
These terms apply when you access or use the website. If you do not agree with them, you should not use the website.
We may update these Terms from time to time, and any changes will take effect immediately upon posting. Please review them periodically.
3. Access and acceptable use
Access is provided free of charge for lawful use. Website content or functionality may be changed, suspended, or withdrawn for research, maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons.
You must not:
- use the website unlawfully;
- attempt unauthorised access to systems, services, or data;
- introduce malicious code or interfere with website operation;
- misrepresent iTES Lab's work, findings, outputs, or affiliations; or
- reuse material commercially without the required permission or licence.
4. Publications, data, and tools
Publication links may lead to external publishers. Follow the access, citation, and copyright conditions set by the relevant publisher or rights holder.
a) Access to the tools we developed
The London EV Charging Accessibility tool presents map-based research outputs using published website data and third-party basemap services. Tool content may have specific source, attribution, method, licence, date, and limitation notices. Those notices take priority where they are more specific than these general terms.
b) Access to publications and materials
In certain cases, our own presentation slides, posters, and other documentation are made available as downloadable PDF files. These materials are provided for personal or academic use only. If you use or reference any of our downloadable materials, you must acknowledge iTES Lab as the original source and provide an appropriate citation.
c) Access to open data
Certain datasets or documentation on our website are open access but require users to complete a form before gaining access. By submitting such a form, you agree to use the data only for legitimate research or academic purposes, to comply with any specific conditions of use stated on the form, and to acknowledge iTES Lab in any resulting work.
We reserve the right to decline access requests at our discretion.
5. Intellectual property and copyright
Rights in the website may belong to UCL, individual authors, collaborators, funders, publishers, data providers, software licensors, or other third parties. This includes research text, publications, project information, images, logos, maps, code, data, and tool outputs.
You may view the website and quote or reuse material where permitted by law or licence, with appropriate citation.
You must not:
- claim ownership or authorship of material that is not yours;
- use logos or trademarks without permission;
- remove copyright, licence, or attribution notices; or
- reuse material outside the applicable law or licence terms.
6. Accuracy, completeness, and availability
Reasonable care is taken when publishing content. Research information may change as data, methods, evidence, or projects develop. Pages, maps, tools, and external services may be incomplete, experimental, unavailable, or withdrawn.
Tool outputs are not legal, financial, planning, engineering, safety, or other professional advice. Verify important information with the relevant authority or qualified professional before making consequential decisions.
7. Disclaimer of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the website is provided without guarantees of uninterrupted access, freedom from error, or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
8. External links
Links to LinkedIn, publishers, and other external resources are provided for context or academic reference. iTES Lab does not control their content, availability, terms, copyright conditions, or privacy practices. A link does not by itself mean that all external content is endorsed.
9. Privacy and security
The current website does not intentionally set analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies. Personal data is addressed in the Privacy Policy.
Attempts to breach the website, access restricted information without authorisation, introduce harmful code, or interfere with functionality may result in access being blocked and further action where appropriate.
10. Attribution and citation
Give appropriate credit when quoting, referencing, or building upon material from iTES Lab or its contributors. Follow any citation supplied with the relevant publication, data, image, map, code, or tool output and, where possible, link to the source page.
11. Amendments
These terms may be updated when the website, its tools, legal requirements, or operating arrangements change. The “Last updated” date will be revised when changes are made.
